Post-apocalyptic, nightmarish sequence of scenes in the American/Mexican southwest circa 1850 or so.... Beautifully written and, at times, stunningly poignant, but so repetitively violent that it becomes a bit numbing. Not one sympathetic character within it (unless you count the hundreds graphically massacred) although it has one GREAT villain in the form of 'The Judge'. Beautiful prose, but be warned that McCarthy isn't fond of capitalization, quotation marks, etc. and would give an English teacher fits.
